Australian Prescriber Vol. 25 No. 1 2002

I've missed a dose; what should I do?

People often forget to take their medicine. For most medicines missing one dose is not a problem, but for others it can be serious. Knowing in advance what to do when a dose is missed can help to reduce any serious problems.

Patients can ask their doctor or pharmacist for advice when they get a prescription. Many medicines come with a leaflet called consumer medicine information (CMI). This leaflet tells you what to do if you forget to take a dose.

The article in this issue of Australian Prescriber contains advice on what patients should do if one of the more commonly prescribed medicines is missed. Other sources of help are your doctor or pharmacist, the consumer medicine information, or one of the telephone services providing health information.
