Sulfur (sulphur)
Sulfur is a natural substance. It is used in medicines and in many chemicals including food preservatives. Sulfur is also used in some soaps and cosmetics.
People sometimes have an allergic reaction to medicines containing sulfur. This does not necessarily mean that they have to avoid everything containing sulfur. They may be able to take other medicines containing sulfur.
Whenever a medicine is prescribed it is always important to tell the doctor or pharmacist about any allergies. It helps to know the name of the medicine and to remember what the reaction to it was.
