Kidney disease
Kidney disease is common in Australia. People often do not know if their kidneys are working properly or not.
Kidney disease speeds up heart disease. Many patients with kidney disease die of heart disease before their kidneys stop working.
To slow down heart and kidney disease it is important to have a healthy lifestyle. This includes not smoking and eating less salt.
High blood pressure is bad for the kidneys and the heart so it has to be treated. Several medicines may be needed to control the blood pressure.
