Hepatitis C
Hepatitis C is a virus which attacks the liver. It is spread by contact with another person's blood.
Although hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver the person may not know they have a problem. It is sometimes found by chance when the person has a blood test for another reason.
In some people the liver is damaged. This damage may take many years to appear. The person may need to be treated with medicines to stop the virus causing more damage. Drinking less alcohol and eating a healthy diet will also help the liver.
